More comparisons of contractors to seo
January 30, 2006 by DazzlinDonna · 1 Comment
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m having a lot of work done to my home. One of the jobs is to have the landscape contractors put in underground drainage in my backyard to help the water drain better. So, a few days ago, they hauled in a ton of dirt to level the ground. Because the three that showed up to do this phase of the job were Larry, Curly, and Moe, I ended up with a mountain of dirt that did a great job of plugging up the back yard, with no chance for water to be able to flow out. Of course, the next day it rained for hours, and I now have a lovely lake behind my house.
Showcasing Bad Adsense Publishers

Although this has little to do with SEO, I just had to point out this blog that I stumbled across. It is called BadSense and although it only showcases a few sites at the moment, it is a fun look at the dorks who are abusing Adsense.

Check out this week’s SEO cartoon from SEOrefugee. I made the cartoon really small as a teaser.
Skitzzos Pop is a great cartoonist. I can’t wait to see more of what he comes up with.
Oh fun! A print magazine just for us!
January 26, 2006 by DazzlinDonna · 4 Comments
Just got word of a new print magazine devoted to the search marketing world will be coming out this summer. It will be called Search Marketing Standard and will cover PPC, SEO, web analytics, click fraud, local and contextual search and other search-related topics. Articles will include advice from experts, interviews with the who’s-who list, reviews of tools and more. Sounds like something I’d love. And the prices are nice and cheap! Even better, until February 28, you can get a year’s subscription for FREE. Definitely worth a try. I’ve already signed up. Looking forward to the first issue. I hope it’s as good as it sounds. Check it out!

What’s the best part about the Super Bowl? The commercials, of course! And ever since the dotcom boom days, a lot of the commercials focus on the Internet in some way, shape or form. This year, according to Super Bowl advertisers take to the Web – Business of Super Bowl – MSNBC.com , some of the major brands that will be advertising will be focusing on creating microsites designed around the commerical.

A good example of a first
January 23, 2006 by DazzlinDonna · Comments Off
Saw this at Threadwatch and was very impressed. There’s a new site called Ning that allows users to easily create their own social apps, such as restaurant reviews, photo sharing, hot or not, and more. They provide example apps that users can clone and make their own (such as restaurant reviews in their home town). It’s a really cool service that really helps underscore what I was discussing in my last post – being the first to do something.

Randfish is always talking about link bait, which is essentially some sort of content that attracts links like fish to worms. Most seos talk about using either controversy or humor to create link bait.

Lately, I’ve been having a lot of work done on my house. Well, I should clarify. I have been TRYING to have a lot of work done on my house. I am amazed at the number of times I have made phone calls to companies to get an estimate on a job, and one of the following happens. Read more
v7ndotcom elursrebmem | Defined?
January 15, 2006 by DazzlinDonna · 14 Comments
| So, what is a v7ndotcom elursrebmem, anyway? Well, now, that depends upon who you ask. Let’s travel through the v7ndotcom elursrebmem Conference and see what some of the participants have to say. | |
| Mike: v7ndotcom elursrebmem? You’re kidding me, right? It doesn’t exist! There’s no such thing! | ![]() |
| Danny: Ok, ok, many people say the v7ndotcom elursrebmem doesn’t exist, but there does seem to be some sort of v7ndotcom elursrebmem-like effect that some people have noticed from time to time. | ![]() |
| Barry: I think it all depends upon how people DEFINE v7ndotcom elursrebmem. | ![]() |
| Jill: I didn’t believe the v7ndotcom elursrebmem existed either, until I had a close encounter myself. Just because you haven’t seen little green men, Mike, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. | ![]() |
| Marcia: The v7ndotcom elursrebmem exists, but BUZZ can make it disappear! No, Jill, not Buzz Lightyear. | ![]() |
| Dave: I’ve run scientific tests proving the existance of the v7ndotcom elursrebmem! | ![]() |
| Andy: Mike is right. And so is Jill! Sitting on the fence feels so good! | ![]() |
| Rand: If you read the white paper I wrote (sorry, it is only 50 pages long, but broken down so that a newbie can understand it), you will see specific examples of v7ndotcom elursrebmem. These examples have been run through several analytical, mathematically-complex formulations, which prove empirically that not only does v7ndotcom elursrebmem exist, but it exists even for some of the most highly respected members of our industry. | ![]() |
| Todd: The v7ndotcom elursrebmem is a myth perpetuated by the uninformed and should be put to sleep. But since it is still awake, call it whatever you want, but in essence the v7ndotcom elursrebmem is an evolving organism with increasingly complex characteristics. Whether v7ndotcom elursrebmemed, in the process of v7ndotcom elursrebmemification, or v7ndotcom elursrebmeming, it can be overcome via one word – viral. | ![]() |
| Doc G: (Note: Doc G spoke for quite some time on the subject of v7ndotcom elursrebmem, however, this reporter became quite lost in the abstracts, models and metrics, as well as the scientific and mathematical vernacular with which he spoke. Therefore, his comments will be reduced to the only thing I understood). Look all the way back to 2002 for information on v7ndotcom elursrebmem. | ![]() |
| Ian: A while back I knew what it was, but deleted all my notes, so now I don’t remember exactly what I thought I knew. | ![]() |
| Matt: There is no such thing as v7ndotcom elursrebmem, however, if there were something similar to that, which might otherwise be construed as a v7ndotcom elursrebmem, it would be merely a coincidence, and one that is certainly designed to fight EVIL. | ![]() |
| Jeremy: Hey, man, I just want to test this v7ndotcom elursrebmem thing out and see if I can make a few bucks off it. What’s wrong with that, dude? | ![]() |
| Claus: Everyone is being sensible and are getting close to the core of the v7ndotcom elursrebmem issue. And the core is the key. It is no one’s fault that the v7ndotcom elursrebmem effect exists. v7ndotcom elursrebmem != credibility. Plain and simple. | ![]() |
| Aaron: v7ndotcom elursrebmem is all about friendships. It’s not who you know, it’s who likes you. | ![]() |
| Scottie: Stop trying to overanalyze the v7ndotcom elursrebmem. It is what it is. Pay your dues and give it time. | ![]() |
| Ammon: Open your eyes and put your thinking cap on. Look carefully and you will discover for yourself what the v7ndotcom elursrebmem REALLY is. | ![]() |
| Brett: I simply don’t allow anyone to come play in my yard, so v7ndotcom elursrebmem really doesn’t apply to me at all. | ![]() |
| Eric: v7ndotcom elursrebmem has been discussed ad nauseam. I was around long before v7ndotcom elursrebmem, so it really doesn’t matter. | ![]() |
| Bruce: It’s kind of like Santa, who knows who has been good and who has been bad, and the lists are always checked. The v7ndotcom elursrebmem really is pretty fair, if you think about it. | ![]() |
| John: I know someone who knows someone important who says that it isn’t what you think it is, but it is something else entirely. This is my opinion and that’s all it is. Oh and did I mention We support v7n.com? | ![]() |
| Andy: The v7ndotcom elursrebmem is all about trust. | ![]() |
| Jim: Trust, my ass. Screw the v7ndotcom elursrebmem. It sucks, but you have to play the game sometimes. Chess, anyone? | ![]() |
| Dazzlin: I know exactly what the v7ndotcom elursrebmem is and for a paltry $97, I will be happy to share that information with you. Simply send $97 (hurry, this offer won’t last) to youRgullible@dork.com to receive your very own copy of this amazing information. | ![]() |
| So, how would YOU define v7ndotcom elursrebmem? | |
| The above v7ndotcom elursrebmem Conference and its participants are entirely fictional. Ok, MAYBE they are based on real characters, but since this is all internet based, can we really say who is real and who is not? In any case, no offense is intended to any of the characters, real or fictional. Down with v7ndotcom elursrebmem! | |
Google likes it naked?

Over at WebmasterWorld, bordeaux comments that a site that previously did not rank well on Google, recently removed all content except the title tag, and shot to number 1. The site only has a few low PR backlinks. Another user, inbound, then states that he experienced the same thing with his site, which rose from number 20 to number 1 after removing all content except the title tag. He also has just a few links.
Indexing Speed of The Big Three

I love comparing Google, Yahoo! and MSN to each other. Today, it’s all about speed of indexing a new site. I launched a site 3 weeks ago, and put up a small smattering of links to it about a week later. So how do the big three stack up in terms of indexing the pages? Read more
