Avatar advertising gone wild

Have you looked at DP (Digitalpoint) threads lately? If so, you may have gotten confused about why so many avatars all look the same. Why are there nearly 250,000 posts showing SiteSift avatars? Well, that’s because Stuart McHenry had the ingenious idea of using avatars as an advertising medium. He rented the avatars of some members, and other members voluntarily changed the avatars to the SiteSift avatar. Stuart explains avatar advertising here and is interviewed about it here. I love a good idea when I see one!

If you are the first to "discover" any of my posts in StumbleUpon, one of the following categories would probably be the most appropriate to place it into. You don't have to choose one of these, of course, but based on what I usually write about, there's a good chance any of my posts will fall into one of these categories.

Business * Computers * Computer Graphics * Computer Hardware * Computer Security * Databases * Ecommerce * Internet * Internet Tools * Linux/Unix * Marketing * Search * Self Improvement * Web development * Weblogs(Blogs) * Windows * Writing
