Looking for your opinion

There has been some discussion recently about whether or not I should be accepting money in return for reviewing a product, site, or service. One reader suggested a poll, so I’m obliging that request now. I would love to have your opinion on the matter.

For just a $5 tip, you can advertise your site or affiliate link on SEO Scoop. Find out how.

If you are the first to "discover" any of my posts in StumbleUpon, one of the following categories would probably be the most appropriate to place it into. You don't have to choose one of these, of course, but based on what I usually write about, there's a good chance any of my posts will fall into one of these categories.

Business * Computers * Computer Graphics * Computer Hardware * Computer Security * Databases * Ecommerce * Internet * Internet Tools * Linux/Unix * Marketing * Search * Self Improvement * Web development * Weblogs(Blogs) * Windows * Writing

I am the one the suggested the poll. So far it looks like I was wrong, most people don’t mind the paid reviews. I will shut up now …

I think it’s great that you spoke up, Dave. The blogosphere is all about conversation, and this is a conversation that probably needed to happen. So thanks!

I love having a conversation on blogs - lots of fun.

On my blog most of my visitors are my competitors and they don’t like to comment and join the conversation.

I don’t mind it when I know the reviewer’s reputation in advance. You can sorta tell who is offering a professional review vs one who is concerned only with the money. Objective reviews are hard to write, but from a purchaser’s perspective, more valuable and worthy of payment.

I trust your perspective Donna. It takes time to earn trust. On that basis, I don’t give a hoot.
