Switching to full feeds
by DazzlinDonna
Despite the fact that I’ve been a proponent of using excerpts in feeds, I’ve decided to switch to full feeds. I’m a little wary of scrapers, but I assume SEO Scoop has some legitimacy, trust and history built up so I’m guessing that scrapers won’t hurt me. I would not do this on a newer blog however. But I think it’s time for Scoop readers to be able to get the full blog post in their feedreaders, so here ya go! (Let me know if anything is wonky).

Donna – Are you going to start using Pheedo or something similar to try to monetize your feed?
And a side note – I’m trying to do the same thing with a blog I have, but Bloglines keeps showing an excerpt. I have the “full text” selected in WP, and the same in my bloglines preferences.
I’m stumped.
Yes, Robert, I’m trying out Pheedo. I really don’t expect much of anything from it, but I always like to try things. I had to work hard to see the changes in Firefox because of cache problems, but didn’t think to go look at Bloglines. I still see excerpts there as well. I wonder what’s up with that. Hmmm…If I find an answer, I’ll let you know.
Robert, the Bloglines thing might have something to do with cache. I’m guessing Bloglines stores older feed caches. New posts are showing up as full feeds on Bloglines, but older posts are still snippets. So I’m guess it’ll just be new posts forward. True for you?
Hmm.. I’ll write a new post and check on that.
Side note, I think you tried TLA at some point here, didn’t you? I was reading an entry on John Chow’s blog about making money online, and it seems he’s doing pretty well using about 9 different monetization programs, one of them being TLA.
I was really surprised and got a wakeup call when I saw that without any real effort my sports blog is getting about 200 daily uniques – however, the number of Adsense ads being displayed is only around 10-20 – everyone is reading my stuff from the feed. It’s great that they’re subscribing, but bad because I don’t have any program in place to make cash from that. So now I have to figure out how to dress up the feed (with the pictures that appear in posts), and monetize it.
Ok, my memory is bad, and I’ve tried a lot of monetization things on scoop, but I don’t recall using TLA on it. I might have, but it doesn’t ring a bell. PM me sometime if you want to discuss further.
