SEO Scoop Birthday where you can win the present!

Celebrate! On June 26th, 2007, SEO Scoop will turn 3 years old! If we count blog years like we do dog years (blog rhymes with dog so it makes sense to me), then SEO Scoop will be turning 21 and will be a full-fledged grownup blog. In honor of SEO Scoop’s upcoming birthday, I’ve decided to hold a contest, so that I can give away a birthday present to a lucky winner on Scoop’s big day.

The contest is simple and doesn’t require you to have to think, sing, dance, or possess any kind of talent. All you have to do is…

SEO Scoop has a new look

Obviously, unless you are brand spankin’ new here, you’ve noticed that SEO Scoop is now sporting a whole new look. It’s certainly possible that I’ve missed something here or there, so if a problem crops up, let me know. I may still tweak things a bit over the next few days, but basically, this is the new Scoop. Hope you like it. (Oh, and yes, I’ve done away with the 800×600 resolution, so hopefully that won’t upset too many people).

Looking at BidVertiser

I often recommend not becoming dependent upon any one source of traffic and/or revenue. For that reason, I always check out alternate sources of income, and Bidvertiser is the one I’m currently taking a look at.

From a publisher’s point of view, some of the advantages that BidVertiser has over the “other alternatives” is that you can receive payment starting at only $10, rather than having to wait until $100 has been accrued. Since advertisers actively choose your site to bid on, you will always be showing the highest paying ads on your site, and you can block any unwanted ads…

New Ask.com with 10 new skins

Via Techcrunch, I learned that Ask.com had a major relaunch tonight. While Techcrunch does a good job mentioning some of the new features, my eye was caught by the pretty new bling….the Ask homepage now comes with skins. I’ve taken screenshots of each for you to peruse. I’m partial to the polka dots skin, because the bright colors make me happy. What’s your favorite?

Hoping for a stellar algo discussion

I’ve just posted some snippets that a NY Times reporter gleaned from Mr. Google Engineer over on the SEOrefugee forum. It’s been a fairly long time since I’ve seen a large group of us have a go at dissecting algo tidbits, and coming up with theories and thoughts on the Google algo. I figured now would be an awesome time to have one of our old-fashioned algo discussions since we suddenly have some really ripe, juicy tidbits to stir our imaginations. The discussion I started is here (no replies yet, so you could be the first with insight, or to tell…

No! Don’t make me! No! No! No! No!

Ok, I’ve been squeezing my eyes shut really, really tight, hoping against hope that all the rumors of Google buying Feedburner were untrue. But alas, my wishes were smashed against a wall and broken into tiny pieces when I saw that the Official Google Blog announced the purchase.

Throwing a tantrumI want to throw myself on the floor, flail my arms, kick my legs, and scream NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! I’ve been slowly easing myself away from my dependencies upon Google, and yet they constantly find a way to suck me back into their pod again and again. I DON’T WANT to…

Thumbs up for Jennifer Laycock’s latest series

For the past five weeks, I’ve been following Jennifer Laycock’s excellent series on Making Link Bait and Viral Marketing Work. I’m sad to see it end, but if you’ve missed it, be sure to check it out. All ten parts are listed below.

You can simply glance at the…
