SEO for Firefox AddOn Causes Yahoo error?

by DazzlinDonna

Lately, I’ve been noticing that any search I do in Yahoo! produces a popup alert error that says, “Internal Error: result.childNodes[0].childNodes[0] has no properties”. For a while now, I assumed it was a Yahoo problem, but it looks like I was wrong about that. Searching for that error seems to indicate it is a result of the SEO for Firefox addon from Aaron’s SEObook tools. I’m not sure that’s true because disabling it didn’t seem to solve the problem, but maybe I have to reboot or something. Anyone out there know anything about this one? I’m getting tired of the stupid error message popping up.

I know its really a stupid message that annoys me as well. It seems to solve the problem for me when SEO for Firefox is disabled. Anyways, I use IE for searching in Yahoo. Sometimes you should give chance to Bill Gate’s Internet Explorer!!

Yep, I rebooted, after disabling, and sure enough, the error disappeared. Aaron, what’s up with that?

  3. I hadn’t noticed that before, but I guess I’ve always used the extension while searching at Google. I assume Aaron will eventually get this fixed. The last update to the extension or some change at Yahoo might have broken things temporarily.

  4. Yes, I’ve been seeing it on any Mozilla browser. I tested by clicking through it and then closing and rebooting. The results don’t seem to change anywhere. It’s just this annoying dialog box you have to push your way through. (shrug) Still a fine tool.

And does it freak out non-tech people who sit at your computer and query Google! ;)

Thanks Donna … that clears one problem up!

  6. I’ve been getting this too – but its no great hardship – I just switch off the plugin when I’m searching Yahoo, or click through the error message and get on with what I’m doing.

SEO for FireFox is a great little time saving device for me, so I can live with this one quirk quite happily.

I’d like to know if there is a fix, other than a workaround.
