Catching Up With SEOsFightFat.com

SEOs have officially been fighting fat for charity for a month now, and that means we are halfway to the end goal. Where do we stand?

Judging by the recent blog posts, I think most of us are at a crossroads in our weight loss plans. Many of us seem to be wavering back and forth between losing and gaining, and we end up being a bit stuck at our current weight. Much of that may be because we’ve all been leading some hectic lives lately. Some have been traveling and attending conferences; others have been launching products and sites; and still…

SEO Automation or Smart SEO Tools?

Let’s get this out of the way right from the start. SEO cannot be COMPLETELY automated and stay legitimately white-hat. HOWEVER, just because it cannot be completely automated, doesn’t mean that many of the processes cannot be helped along by the use of streamlined, automated tools.

Tools are an SEO’s best friend. Tools enable us to utilize a machine’s ability to quickly gather and process information. What we do with that information is where the automation process stops, and our intelligence takes over.

Many great tools exist on the market today, and I’m personally aware of some kick-ass tools that are…

Finally Pulling It All Together

Ever had a moment when you suddenly see all the experiences of years past come together into one cohesive unit, and you realize what it has all been leading up to? I had one of those moments last summer, and that’s when I began the process of thinking and planning my next move.

(quick history lesson: I graduated from college 27 years ago with a degree allowing me to become a high school teacher. The salary offers afterwards made me regret my career path, so I immediately moved to working with computers in various capacities. I’ve been everything from a…

Learning From A Clever Turn Of Phrase On CopyBlogger

Being a fan and subscriber to CopyBlogger’s feed, I am often impressed with the content, but this is the first time I’ve been impressed enough to come here and blog about it. The post is Keyword Research for Bloggers: A Comprehensive Guide, and although the post itself is link worthy, it’s not the post itself that brought me here.

No, it’s ONE SMALL SENTENCE that rocked my world this morning. We can all learn from a simply worded phrase that could make a huge impact in so many ways, and when you see what I’m referring to, I think you’ll…

A Conference Aimed At A Different Crowd

Sure, I’m an SEO and I’m a geek and I’m all techie, so I get into the more technical search conferences that happen around the country. But what I REALLY am is a small business owner. Heck, small isn’t even the word for it. I’m a tiny business owner. In any case, I can really relate to the small business person who isn’t a geek, if for no other reason, than because my real life is surrounded by non-geeks.

So where does the non-geek, small business person go to learn about online marketing? Check this out.

This is happening in Houston, TX…

Download Google Trends Historical Data Search Terms

Just got word from the folks who make my favorite keyword research tool (Wordze), that they are offering a very nice little download for free.

You can download Google’s top search terms for every hour of the day since Jan 8th 2008. Their keyword tracking software logged more than 90,400 terms since then. You’ll get an excel file mailed to you with each keyword, its rank, and time checked since Jan 8th, 2008.

Nice.

Software To Interpret Adwords and PPC Data

This is for all of you folks who want to get the most out of your PPC campaigns. I’m not going to even try to pretend that I am an expert at the PPC game, because that would be far, far, far from the truth. I’m an organic kind of gal, and there are plenty of other folks who understand the PPC game much better than I.

Nevertheless, I can usually spot a decent product when I run across one, and VisualCalc Adwords Dashboard looks like one you PPC kids should at least check out. (I am not affiliated with them in…

Come Join My Private Room

Remember when I was moaning about wishing this blog was private so I could share more? Well, I did share my little secret with a select few people that I trusted, but the process of connecting with them was … well … a pain in the rear. I’ve been thinking about it ever since then, and decided that the only smart thing to do would be to create a private list of people that I could share things with without worrying about who might be a spy, or who might blab it to the entire world.

In light of that, I’ve created…

New Social Alerter Tool Released

eKstreme has finally released his Social Alerter tool. I beta tested it several months ago and thought it rocked, so I’m happy to see it available to the public. What is it? It is a tool that monitors the upcoming lists at Digg and del.icio.us and alerts you via email if the site you are tracking is about to be inundated with traffic from these sources. Ever made the front page of Digg? How’d your server hold up? Did it crash? Chances are, it did, making your front page Digg experience less than joyful. With a heads up, you can be…
