Finally Pulling It All Together

by DazzlinDonna

Ever had a moment when you suddenly see all the experiences of years past come together into one cohesive unit, and you realize what it has all been leading up to? I had one of those moments last summer, and that’s when I began the process of thinking and planning my next move.

(quick history lesson: I graduated from college 27 years ago with a degree allowing me to become a high school teacher. The salary offers afterwards made me regret my career path, so I immediately moved to working with computers in various capacities. I’ve been everything from a data entry tech, to a secretary, to a programmer, and found my most rewarding career when it all moved online. /end of history lesson)

I’ve found over the years, even before I knew what SEO was, that I tended to share what I learned. It seemed to be some sort of ingrained trait. So I spent time on forums, and then later became a blogger, always trying to help the next newbie learn what I’d been helped to learn in the past. I guess I didn’t really stray all that far from my teaching degree after all.

So what has all that culminated in? It has come full circle in the form of my newest career move. I am now an eBusiness Coach / Consultant. Through my new site, ebuzzcoach.com, I am offering one-on-one personal coaching / consulting work to help newbies transition from their 9-5 office cubicle jobs, to working full-time, from home, by creating an online ebusiness. The goal is to help others understand how it all works, and give them the motivation, encouragement, focus, and knowledge needed to create a quality ebusiness that is just ripe for attracting visitors and buzz.

No, I am NOT becoming an SEO coach. I am so much more than an SEO, as I mentioned last summer in my I Am No Longer An SEO post. Of course, since it is an important aspect of any ebusiness, it will be a part of the coaching process, but I want to make sure that no one ever signs up thinking that they will be getting immersed in SEO training.

Speaking of that post from last summer, that was really the beginning of this new journey. It has taken me this long to really firm it all up in my mind, and really get a grip on how I wanted to make this work. But finally, the day has come when I can launch it and begin a new chapter.

Many of you reading this have a lot of ebusiness experience, and have no need of a coach / consultant. You don’t need me. However, we all have “real lives” with families and friends that are newbies to the world in which we live. Once in a while, one of those newbs has the burning desire to transition from that life to the one in which we live, but they are unsure how to proceed. They can be self-taught – most of us went that route, and it can certainly work. But it does involve more time – and more mistakes made – than some would like to invest. If someone in your life has an idea and is looking to move from his or her real-world job, to one that is virtual (i.e. work from home online), I’d appreciate it if you would mention my services to them. Most of you know me, and know my style. If you think I might be a good fit for your friend or relative who wants to break into the ebusiness life, would you be so kind as to refer them to my site, www.ebuzzcoach.com ? If so, I thank you.

Nothing else in my life is changing. I’ll still be here sharing SEO tips, tricks, and assorted sundry. I’ll still be frequenting the SEO forums and hanging out at Sphinn, etc. So don’t start spreading untrue rumors! (j/k) ;)

    Donna,

Congratulations on your successes and I wish you luck in your new business venture.

I just found your site from a GrayWolf post and spent 20 minutes reading your comments about the Google reconsideration post you wrote back in January. It was one of the best threads of comments I’ve seen so thank you.

    Thanks, Jayson. Much appreciated. :)

    Wow! Congratulations Donna! That’s inspiring!

You are going to be such an amazing help to so many people in the capacity. Heck, I may end up knocking on your virtual door one day to ask for consultation!

I think this is just a super idea and I wish you tremendous good luck with it. Brilliant move.

Mariam, admit it, you’re just trying to optimize for that misspelling of your name ;)

Donna, congrats on the new step. I wish you the best of luck!

  6. Congrats, Donna!

Congratulations Donna. Seems like a natural role for you. And it also seems like the perfect illustration of the adage that “it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.”

    Good luck!

(note: I’m really digging your blog, something you may realize when you see how many comments I’m making)

This is my experience as well, 14 years ago I graduated with my BFA (bachlor of fine arts) and here I am heading up Open Source development at a well funded non-profit. I love it, but it’s not the direction I thought I’d go – and that’s how I know it’s right. Other gigs didn’t have “it” even though I didn’t know what “it” was until I found it!

In related news, my Aunt is a personal coach too, just started a few years ago and loves it. Best of luck to you with it!

LOL, fak3r, I do see lots of comments from you today, but that’s a wonderful thing. Glad you’re digging the blog. :)

Just as a followup, I’m loving the coaching business so far. Just so ya know. :)
