RANT: Two Reasons Google Irks Me This Month

Sometimes, Google just gets my goat and annoys the heck out of me. Here’s the latest things Google has done that has gotten me bent out of shape.

Google Annoyance #1:

Google recently told all Adsense publishers that they had to have privacy policies that had to meet certain Google requirements, but they couldn’t actually spell out those requirements. Ok, fine, we all scrambled and did our best to try to comply with the vague new rule, and in my case, it meant spending an entire day dealing with all my various sites that serve Adsense.

Now, just a mere few weeks later,…

How to be V.A.S.T. on StumbleUpon

Building a Social Media profile can be a lot like working a room at a face-to-face networking opportunity. You have to show up, be seen, and be up for a little interaction: the eye contact, the firm handshake, a little humor, low on marketing-speak but high on availability, wearing your identity up front and personal where people can see.

There is a tendency to treat building a Social Media profile like Search marketing. Analyze the system, make a plan, do some experimentation, keep records, – you know, like a SEO tweaking keyword placement for rankings.

How And Why I Made The Switch From Vista To Linux (Ubuntu / Kubuntu)

A week or so ago I took a scary leap that turned out to be not so scary after all. I installed Ubuntu on my Vista PC. I’ve been researching this for a while now, and knew that I could dual-boot, so the plan was that I would install some flavor of Linux without getting rid of Vista. I did get a little flack for spreading the posts out and being wordy, but I did that for a reason. Maybe it wasn’t a good reason, I don’t know, but hey, it was A reason. :)

I occasionally like to make people think.…

Take A Moment: Is It Time To Change?

Let’s start this post out with a couple of quotes: one old and one new.

Albert Einstein supposedly said, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.“. I’m sure we all occasionally bang our heads against a wall, repeatedly, without even realizing what we are doing. I know I do. I assume you do too.

Someone recently wrote this about me in a forum post. “She is always coming up with something new to think about. Or something that you haven’t thought about for a long time, that you darn well should have! The best webmaster “tickler…

Online Reputation Management Guides

Glen Allsop (aka ViperChill) asked me if I wanted to take a look at his new ebook that he has just published, All You’ll Ever Need to Monitor and Manage Your Reputation Online, and of course, I said yes. I’ve watched Glen rise up to be a very knowledgeable young man, and I was anxious to see what he has to say about online reputation management. I know that he has decided to steer his company in that direction (moving slightly away from SEO), so I was definitely curious.

He is selling the ebook for $19, and I think it’s definitely…
