Hi Barry!

Yes, I made it up. I noticed that I kept saying the same things about visibility, availability, trust, etc, and cast around for a mnemonic that would express those ideas as a group.

That's a pretty good roundup there. I don't thing SU really gets as much attention as places like Digg as it doesn't send as traffic running into the hundreds of thousands for a popular story.

However, SU is far more accessable, a wider range of topcs tend to stand a good chance of doing well, and tends to send more traffic for stories that don't do as well.

I wrote a bit more on this here - http://www.clicks.ws/blog/2007/11/08/successful-linkbaiting-who-needs-digg/

Loved this post. So clear. I took a step back from it, from SU, and applied it to all of social networking. http://sohoman.blogspot.com/2008/05/social-networking-part-ii-how-to-be-v-s.html Thanks to both of you for the insights!

@Yura - You are absolutely right. Since this is a post about social media, specifically SU, my SU profile should be in my bio. Donna was kind enough to add it.

@Jennifer - You, too, are absolutely right. I'd left my contact parameters on the default: a check on "Let friends find me by email" and no check on "Anyone can send me a message." Since then, SU has become a major part of how I get to newly posted brain food, so it makes sense to go a step beyond the default contact settings. They're updated now.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Hi Elizabeth,

I love your post! Thanks for the info. I love StumbleUpon and I like learning about it. You have given a lot of great information for being successful.

I just wanted to let you know that I went on to Stumble to send you a message about liking your post and noticed that your message capability was disabled. Or maybe it's only turned on for certain people...not sure...just wanted you to know.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it all mean to include a link to your SU profile, Elizabeth?
