I didn't even know about the "include a list of linked URLs that lead to all the 3rd party ad suppliers that Google has contracted with". I don't even know what it means. Last time I just added the text that Jennifer Slegg suggested at JenSense.

Unless Jennifer explains it, I doubt I'll do it because I wouldn't even know where to begin!

Yeah. Number 1 really got to me. "You MUST add specific text, but we are not going to tell you what that text should say. YOU must be capable of creating the required text, EVEN THOUGH we are not capable of creating it. You MUST guess correctly. We will not tell you if you guess correctly. But if you guess incorrectly, we will penalize you."

I simply linked to the Google Privacy Policy. Why would this not be adequate? What is good enough for Google, should be good enough for me, right? Especially, if it is IDENTICAL. Therefore, if Google gets it right, then I get it right.

Google's mantra is "Vague". They rely on the fact that if they never make a declaration, they can never be wrong. Reminiscent of Slick Willy. Very annoying.

“Why not just let us link to Google’s list?”

Because Googles new deal with them says they get thousands if not millions of link-backs now.

How much ya wanna bet on that one…

#1 is enough to boggle the mind. I couldn't even move on to #2. I think I'm getting Google Burnout.

Good rant, Donna. I agree 100%. I think it's incumbent on large animals when they move around not to step on little people. Being big brings with it lots of responsibilities.

I doubt anyone within Google completely understands their algorithm in its entirety. Software of that scale that is changing so quickly easily gets out of control. They're tweaking it almost constantly. They have a few different algorithms rotating through their servers. People can understand their own little island, but when you put everything together you get some strange interactions.
