8 Utilities to Track Keyword Rankings
November 3, 2009 by Will Reinhardt · 5 Comments
One of the more tedious tasks in my monthly routine is preparing keyword ranking reports. While I enjoy analyzing the numbers and discovering how well our clients have (hopefully) improved over the past 30 days, actually collecting those numbers is a chore I don’t relish. If I can pay a few dollars to have a service perform this task on my behalf, I’m all for it.
A Handy Tool To Help You Be First
March 24, 2008 by DazzlinDonna · 10 Comments
At least as far back as 2 years ago, I’ve been advising people to try to be the first person to do something. Being the first person to capitalize on some new trend is often one of the most important things you can do for good search rankings. Being first means getting attention, getting links, and sometimes getting that “gold-standard” domain name. Today, I was invited to try out a new Firefox extension that aims to help you nab that domain name before anyone else. I tried it, I liked it, and so now I’m telling you about it.

Know when you get ‘em, know when you lose ‘em
I ran across an SEO tool script yesterday that looked useful, so I was going to blog about it and link to it. That’s how I usually deal with SEO tools that I test. I just link to them. But this time, thinking some of you might be cheapskates like I am, I bought the resell rights to it, so I could just offer it to you here at half the price. Granted, the script isn’t expensive to begin with, but hey, half price is half price, right?
SEO Spyglass is a very nice free SEO tool

I love SEO tools. I check out every one that comes my way. Then, I tend to tell you about each of them. Today’s gem is a free (for now) tool called SEO Spyglass. This thing has all the info you could ask for when researching your competition. Where they got their links, what the anchor text of those links are, what the PR of the page is, what the title of the page is, the age of the page, and tons of other great info. Not only that, but it has built-in reports to analyze all this information, and you can set up your own reports (really easily). I’ve looked at a lot of tools, and this is the best one I’ve seen of its kind. It’s fast, easy, and packed with information. I’ve just found my new favorite SEO tool. And I don’t have to pay for it. Woot! I’d suggest you download it while it’s still free (and I have no idea how long that will be). But first, watch the demo of it. It really gives you a great idea of the power of this thing. Anyway, just had to pass along the info on this one quickly, because it’s a good one!
New backlinks tool to view geolocation of backlinks

eKstreme has a cool new tool that runs through a site’s backlinks, and then profiles their geolocation. This backlink geolocation tool can help pinpoint why some sites do well in country-specific searches (think competitive analysis here). Nice one, eKstreme.
