8 Utilities to Track Keyword Rankings
November 3, 2009 by Will Reinhardt · 5 Comments
One of the more tedious tasks in my monthly routine is preparing keyword ranking reports. While I enjoy analyzing the numbers and discovering how well our clients have (hopefully) improved over the past 30 days, actually collecting those numbers is a chore I don’t relish. If I can pay a few dollars to have a service perform this task on my behalf, I’m all for it.

Bad Neighborhood makeover and new SEO tools
May 21, 2007 by DazzlinDonna · Comments Off
Bad Neighborhood, the home of the popular Bad Neighborhood Link Checker, has just undergone a site redesign. With the redesign, comes a nice orderly way of finding all the tools that Bad Neighborhood offers. Currently, there are 4 tools you may already know about ( Bad Neighborhood Link Checker, HTTP Header Detector, Email Obfuscator, and Keyword Suggestions (from the AOL leaked data)) and one brand new tool, Yahoo Multiple Keyword Rank/Position Checker.

Experiencing TouchGraph all over again
April 6, 2007 by DazzlinDonna · 2 Comments
When was the last time you checked out TouchGraph? It’s been at least a couple of years for me, but I ran across it again while Stumbling. Wow, either I don’t remember it being so cool (although I do remember it being cool), or it’s evolved nicely since then. Here’s a screenshot of one of my site’s neighborhoods. There’s lots of slider controls, filters, and other gizmos that let you adjust things.
WebSite Grader SEO Tool
March 27, 2007 by DazzlinDonna · 2 Comments
I’m always fascinated by online tools that attempt to value or grade a site. Any time I come across one, I put it through its paces. Tonight, I stumbled on SmallBusinessHub’s WebSite Grader tool. Naturally, I plugged a few of my sites into it, as well as a few other well-known sites in the SEO world. All in all, I thought it gave fairly accurate assessments. I’m not sure I’d use it often, since most of the tools in my arsenal handle my site assessment needs just fine. Nevertheless, I think it’s worth pointing out in case anyone can get some use out of it. If nothing else, it’s always fun to get a “grade” for your site, especially if it’s a good one.

Using optimization tools
May 2, 2006 by DazzlinDonna · 3 Comments
While I highly recommend that you do NOT rely on optimization tools for your SEO efforts, they can be useful as a backup to your brain. No matter how many sites I optimize (there’ve been lots), I cannot rely on my brain to remember everything. I’ll even miss the most basic techniques on occasion. This is when an optimization tool comes in handy – as a reminder only!
Some seo tools to check out
March 17, 2006 by DazzlinDonna · 1 Comment
I haven’t mentioned any seo tools in a while, so I thought I would point to SEOlogs. With McDar being down (anyone know why?), I figured some people might be desperate for datacenter checking tools and the like. SEOlogs.com has some good datacenter tools and other goodies, so check ‘em out. Just look in the left nav of their site to find them all.
Roll your own meta search engine

Aaron has made his Myriad meta search engine open source, so you can grab the source code and have your way with it. Aaron blogs about it here and you can get the source code here. Myriad Search is a meta search service which aims to find the most authoritative results for any topic by comparing the search results from the major engines. Pretty cool stuff!
