Google uncovers spammers hacking sites

Back on July 27, 2006, Neonblitz asked SearchEngineWatch members for help in discerning why a client’s site was showing up with some porn related phrases when searching for the domain name in Google.  Those phrases were nowhere to be found on the site, yet it appeared as if they were, when looking at the description in the SERPs.

Strident Search Defender outs spammers

Kudos to MikeSwede at DP for pointing this out. Microsoft’s research department put out a technical report that lays out common search spam techniques and provides lovely examples that out the spammers. Much of it is focused on splog/doorway page spam. It’s a fun read, if only to be able to see some of these in action. Oh, and they also kindly point out which of these rank well in Google. LOL. Check it out.

Have you had your site’s pages de-indexed? Hmmm…maybe it’s because a world-class spammer has filled Google with BILLIONS of bogus pages – and Google has been stupid enough to be duped into indexing all of them!
