Google ripple yesterday

Yesterday, some sort of little ripple or wave occurred in the Google rankings. I’m not yet sure if it was a data push or a filter adjustment or an algo change, but it was enough of a blip to be noticeable to a segment of webmasters. It may just be one of the many ripples that occur constantly, but this one was a bit more noticeable than others. I’m not sure yet. If you saw the wave ripple through and have any thoughts on it, let me know. If you didn’t notice it, then you are probably in the majority. :)

If you are the first to "discover" any of my posts in StumbleUpon, one of the following categories would probably be the most appropriate to place it into. You don't have to choose one of these, of course, but based on what I usually write about, there's a good chance any of my posts will fall into one of these categories.

Business * Computers * Computer Graphics * Computer Hardware * Computer Security * Databases * Ecommerce * Internet * Internet Tools * Linux/Unix * Marketing * Search * Self Improvement * Web development * Weblogs(Blogs) * Windows * Writing

    Donna,
We dusted off WebPosition Gold last night and ran some reports. Aside from the fact that there seem to be FEWER pages indexed for some of our clients’ sites, we did not notice anything outside the typical Google dance.

That said, it’s a big wacky Internet and the ripple could have occurred. Barry S and Webmaster World have had some reports of a “thinning” of pages indexed in Google for some sites.

It may be related to a thinning of pages indexed. That would correlate somewhat to what I see.
