Quick Little Content Creation and Link Building Tip

If you subscribe to blogs, you probably see the occasional post in which a list of quotes from respected leaders of the niche are displayed. A quick example off the top of my head would be a post in which I would list 10 quotes from respected SEOs on the topic of linkbait. Now, I’m not talking about an interview format, in which a question is specifically asked and the answers are displayed. Instead, I’m talking about quotes that you may have stumbled across in your daily web surfing travels, that you took note of and later compiled into a list.

No matter what niche you represent, there are respected authorities or leaders within that niche. Those leaders may have blogs, or if not, are likely to have expressed their opinions in articles or interviews somewhere on the web. Start making a note of interesting quotes from each of these leaders. One easy way to keep track of them is to tag them with a specific made-up tag in your del.icio.us account, but tick the checkbox labeled “do not share”. This way, you can easily find everything you’ve bookmarked with that specific tag at a later date, but you are not sharing those tidbits with the world…not yet, anyway. This makes it easy to make note of things as you discover them, without it feeling like a “task” you must accomplish.

Once you’ve collected a few quotes (5-10), create a blog post or article on your site based on those quotes. (You may want to devote an entire section of your site to these types of articles, or make this a regularly scheduled feature.) Make sure to link to each of the respected leader’s blog or site when you attribute each quote. If you are lucky, you’ll get the attention of a few of those leaders. If you are really lucky, you may even get a link from some of them. But even if neither of those things happen, you’ve created good content without having to invest an inordinate amount of time or energy. And that’s always a good thing. :)

If you are the first to "discover" any of my posts in StumbleUpon, one of the following categories would probably be the most appropriate to place it into. You don't have to choose one of these, of course, but based on what I usually write about, there's a good chance any of my posts will fall into one of these categories.

Business * Computers * Computer Graphics * Computer Hardware * Computer Security * Databases * Ecommerce * Internet * Internet Tools * Linux/Unix * Marketing * Search * Self Improvement * Web development * Weblogs(Blogs) * Windows * Writing

Good idea, D. My blog has been lacking in content lately. Things just seem to be getting busy. Maybe I’ll give a twist of this a try.

That is a delicious idea. Make note of interesting quotes from 5-10 leaders and create a blog post or article. That’s great, one may get the attention of one of them, the leaders that is. Thanks for the sweet idea.
